Board Committees

Arts Festival

The purpose of the Arts Festival includes increasing awareness of the area, providing funds for uses consistent with the objectives of the Association and creating an opportunity for Association members to work together in a common effort.

Beautification

This Committee's responsibilities include Gazebo maintenance, neighborhood landscaping, and the installation and upkeep of appointments in public areas. Examples of Beautification projects include the Brick Columns on street corners, the flower bed near the 490 on-ramp and the landscaped area on Tubman Way.

Development & Community Outreach

This committee is responsible for communications between the Association and the City of Rochester's developmental and zoning authorities as well as the Sector V planning committee-a part of City Hall's "Neighbors Building Neighborhoods" program. The Sector V area covers Corn Hill, the Central Business district and the Grove Place neighborhood. The goals of the Development committee include maintaining the architectural integrity of the community and promoting the Corn Hill neighborhood. The committee also coordinates with the South Wedge Planning Committee to sponsor the South Wedge/Corn Hill Tool Library, which has over 300 home improvement tools to lend to neighbors. Another project of this committee is the Holiday House Tour, presented annually with the Landmark Society of Western New York.

Finance

This committee studies CHNA financial statements and evaluates CHNA investments in order to recommend appropriate changes or action to the Board President and Treasurer.

Gazette

The official printed communications media of the Association is the Corn Hill Gazette. The Gazette includes neighborhood and community news.

History

The Corn Hill Historian collects and reports information which represent the history of Corn Hill.

Philanthropy

This committee oversees the distribution of moneys to charitable and arts organizations.  One such philanthropic offering is the Community Garden on Atkinson and Ford Streets. The garden is planned and planted by neighbors, who harvest the produce. Surplus vegetables are distributed to neighbors or to other philanthropic organizations.

Revolving Fund

The Revolving Fund has been established to provide loans to resident and nonresident Corn Hill property owners.

Chairperson: John Comatos.


Security/PAC-TAC

The Security Committee is responsible for communications with police services for the Association, including the administration of PAC-TAC (Police And Citizens Together Against Crime) Patrols, the Neighborhood Watch program and the Court Watch system.

Chairperson: Security/PAC-TAC is currently experimenting with a "self directed team" approach to committee management.

Social

The social committee plans and coordinates neighborhood events and social functions.

Web Site

The Corn Hill web site is maintained by the Corn Hill Neighbors Association as a communications medium for neighbors and friends.
